Ylang Ylang: wild extra
intensely sweet, heady, floral, spicy. The aroma of Ylang Ylang is highly prized in perfumery, and is an ingredient in Chanel #5.
100% pure essential oil from distillation of the Canaga odorata blossoms grown wild in Madagascar: has a pleasant, floral aroma, and is often diffused for reason of its bouquet alone.
Both sedating (sleep aid) and stimulating. It acts on the nervous system to relieve symptoms of stress and fights depression.
Major biochemical compounds:
Linalol, geraniol, eugenol, safrol, ylangol, linalyl benzoate, linalyl acetate, alpha pinene, benzoic acid, cadinene, caryophylelene, creosol, isoeugenol.
Method of use:
Diffuse ylang ylang using a diffuser to add a tropical-like aroma to the living or the treatment environment, in addition to the healing benefits. Dilute with a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba oil in a 1:1 ratio before applying it to your skin. Test for skin sensitivity before using it topically. You can perform a skin patch test on your arm or feet to make sure you don’t experience skin sensitization. For guidelines, see our Aromatherapy post.
